GeneralFeldMarschal Wilheim Keitel's Iron Cross 1st and 2nd Class Medals

$6,200.00

GFM Wilheim Keitel's first World War Medals.  This set of medals came with a large grouping from his estate many years ago.  Included with the estate was his GFM greatcoat (see the Museum), his parade tunic, several books and papers from his personal library his special copy of Mein Kampf and other items.    These are his WWI medals, and these are very unique.   First, is his Iron Cross 1st class.  This is vaulted pin backed medal that shows its age.  The face shows aging and darkness to the edges, the black center is mostly intact.  On the reverse the medal is engraved " W. Keitel  Marne Okt 1914".   The medal was chromed on the reverse, but the finish is wearing a lot.  Normal coke bottle style pin, the medal is stamped "008".  This could be clean for a better appearance.  Next is his Iron Cross 2nd class.  This medal is in a special wooden and glass display case.  A black finished wooden round base, the base has a metal plaque on it that is engraved "14 Sept 1914".  Two silver small nails hold in one.  The dome is glass and fits into a grove in the base.  Inside is a slanted black felt display with a silver pin on top for the medal to hang from.  There is an impression in the felt for the medal.  On the back of the display is the EK2 Ribbon pinned on.  The EK2 medal has the ring at the top, The black finish shows wear.  There are no markings on the back or the ring.   if you need more photo's please ask.  These are the only WWII Iron Cross medals awarded to him, you wont see this again.  The items photographed below show what other items came from the estate.  They are NOT included with this sale; the sale is only for his WWII Iron Cross medals.
